Check Out the 2021 Subaru Ascent
Only two years into existence, the Subaru Ascent has won widespread acclaim as a welcome addition to the three-row midsize SUV class complete with standard all-wheel drive, a rugged look, and the largest vehicle yet from Subaru. So far, Carlsbad, CA-area residents have enjoyed the Ascent's roomy seating, spacious cargo area, and a generous list of standard features, and Subaru makes a few more improvements to make it a top-level choice.
What's New for 2021?
Subaru has now elevated steering-responsive LED headlights with automatic high beams as a standard feature. All trims now have headlights that have long-lasting and super-bright LEDs, turn in the direction of your steering for more accurate illumination, and automatically turn on the high beams in low-visibility situations and turn them off when there's oncoming traffic.
In addition, the adaptive cruise control, which keeps you at a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, has additional lane centering and lane keep assist to maintain your intended path of travel on every California street.
Safety
The previously mentioned adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and lane keep assist is one of the technologies that comprise the EyeSight driver-assistance suite. EyeSight includes pre-collision braking to help prevent a front-end collision and sway warning to establish stability (with electronic vehicle and trailer stability control systems).
There's also a rearview camera to monitor what's behind you when reversing the vehicle and daytime running lights to make others aware of your presence. If there's a crash, the Ascent can deploy any of the dual frontal impact, dual side-impact, and dual side curtain airbags in the cabin.
Technology
Infotainment on the Subaru Ascent is integrated by the Starlink multimedia system, which comes with a 6.5-inch LCD touchscreen. Starlink brings together components and functions such as a six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system, Bluetooth hands-free phone calling and audio streaming technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, two front-row USB ports and an audio jack for playing media from portable devices and two second-row USB ports for charging them, and four months of SiriusXM Radio.
Also worthy of mention are 19 cupholders, keyless entry, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system that provides separate controls to all three sections of the cabin to individualize heating and cooling preferences.
